The Bahrain International Circuit at Sakhir runs under floodlights through the desert, a stop-start 5.412 km lap built around three big braking zones and the straights between them. Sand blowing across the abrasive track and cool desert night air make it a tyre-and-traction test, and one of the best overtaking races of the year.
A regular season-opener since 2004, Bahrain pairs heavy braking with traction-limited exits. Pole laps run into the 1:30s.
